Cale Coshow Impressive in First Minor League Season

Former Aviator Cale Coshow, drafted in the 13th round by the New York Yankees had a lot of expectations going into his first season of minor league ball. Cale has the frame, 6’5 and 260 lbs and an arm that’s not too bad either.  Cale has topped out at 97mph, while consistently pitching 94-96 mph.

Cale met those high expectations this season with the Staten Island Yankees.  He pitched 40.2 innings in 2013, posted a 3.67 ERA, while striking out 36 hitters.

Aviators Take Flight

The Aviators soared to victory in their first ever Walter Johnson League matchup on Tuesday night, beating the Valley Center Diamond Dawgs 13-3.  Starting pitcher Cale Coshow dominated the Valley Center lineup, striking out eleven batters and allowing only three runs over 6 2/3 innings.  Coshow also had plenty of support from the Aviators’ offense, who got the bats going early with a four run first inning.  Then they added two more in the second after left fielder Richie McClure led off the inning with his first triple of the night.  Wichita plated another four runs in the fourth, and then three more in the fifth, as McClure drove in DH Sam Murphy with another triple.  Then shortstop Jonathan Andrews added the exclamation point with a two-run homer to left field.  Clay Rideout relieved Coshow in the sixth, faced six batters, and struck out three of them as the Aviators run-ruled Valley Center in 7 innings.  With the win the Aviators record is now 2-1 overall, and 1-0 in Walter Johnson League play.
